This book is about a fifteen year old girl who is just trying to fit in at school. At first she is only worried about a boy named Roger at school liking her, but that turns out to be the least of her problems. She first experiences drugs at a party with a new group of kids. They slip LSD into her drink. She swore she would never do it again. Her fascinating trip on LSD made her curious about other drugs so she slowly began to try them. Her first boyfriend used her to sell drugs to young kids and make money for him so her and her friend ran away to San Fransisco where they planned to start their own boutique and get away from drugs. Eventually she came back to her family and they accepted her back. Her family did not know about her addiction to drugs. She ran away a few more times after that, but she always came back and her family always accepted her. She started to get better and happier without drugs but she just kept getting pulled back in. At the end of the book she dies from overdose. Addiction was her psychological disorder and in the end it won. As stated on the tean health and wellness website it says that addictive drugs change the abuser's body and even alter the structure of the brain. Most adicts do not want to admit they have a problem and some may even be convinced that they don't. Direct medical supervision is the safest and most supportive way to withdraw from an addictive substance.
